Norwood’s creative research explores the complexities of identity, challenges established norms of perception, and questions the systems that shape our understanding of individual and collective identities. Her artistic creations aim to disrupt the conventional, often passive, white gaze, challenging established narratives and systems that influence our understanding of identities. Norwood’s academic background includes an MFA from Florida State University and a BFA from the University of South Florida. Her work has been showcased in exhibitions across the United States, Canada, and Jamaica. She has received numerous awards, including residencies at the Banff Centre, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Hambidge Center, and the McColl Center, among others. Her art has found a place in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Gardiner Museum, Microsoft Collection, the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., and Washington and Lee University in Virginia.
